With the weather still on the cold side, it’s got me thinking about comfort foods, warmer climates and spicy stuff like my almost finished bottle of Joe’s Hot Stuff cajun-style seasoning from the Louisiana General Store at the New Orleans School of Cooking.
A few years back on a trip to New Orleans, I attended a cooking demonstration at the school and needless to say for a “foodie” like me, it was awesome.
And did I tell you that tasty “samples” were part of the demo?
Coming from someone who loved Saturdays afternoons as teenager because it meant watching Jacques Pépin, Graham Kerr and Martin Yan on PBS, it was cool to actually observe a chef prepare a meal and explain the local history and the origins of the cuisine.
If you’re a foodie and are ever in NOLA, you should seriously think about signing up for a demonstration or maybe even a hands-on cooking class.
With my bottle of Joe’s on its last legs, it may be a great excuse to go back for another visit!
