Oh My...

On the third day, I raised the white flag.

Threw in the towel.

Said Uncle.

Gave up and admitted defeat.

It’s not like I’m a glutton but if I’m on a cruise, I’ll eventually cave and indulge in all the things I rarely eat at home like pancakes, French toast, bacon, omelettes with the works and double cheese, in small portions like you see below.

Ok, so maybe what you see below is not SO small? 😊

But when I walk by and see the breakfast plates of other cruisers, I often long to eat healthier and be a Skinny B****.

It’s the name of a book but that’s also the term I affectionately (and wrongly) use to describe people regardless of their shape and size who eat healthy, even on vacation. You know who they are. They look so content with their small bowl of fruit, a yogurt or maybe even a steaming bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.

I’ll admit that I’m envious that these healthy-minded travelers are so dedicated to doing the right thing all the time. I’d love to be one of them and have a bowl of *ugh* oatmeal as the only thing my little heart would crave while cruising.

But for right now, I’ll have to stew in my envy because I’m about to indulge in what you see below. I have no clue what it is but I’m eating it anyways!   🙂

  1. I can’t stand those people. Maybe it’s not nice to say… But on vacation? On holidays? On your birthday? Eat what you want!

    Those people you describe… Are they so weak that they can’t enjoy some deliciousness once in a while and get back on track after? Are they eating healthy when others are watching but eating pints of Ben & Jerry’s when they’re alone? Eh… I don’t think it’s healthy to always be “perfect”… You’ve gotta mix it up. Especially on vacation!

  2. I don’t get involved with anything that includes…a bowl of oatmeal. And cruise lines don’t pull out all the stops to attract 5 star chefs just for them to serve…a bowl of oatmeal.

    I can’t…with…a bowl of oatmeal.

  3. Vacations are for splurging! We work hard all year long to indulge for these few days. Rationalize it this way – if we ate like this all the time, health-wise we’d be in bad shape.
    BTW, is there a Belgian waffle bar?

  4. I think it’s okay to indulge on vacation. I haven’t been on a cruise but my parents told me there was so much food. I can see allowing yourself treats you wouldn’t normally get to eat. maybe be aware you are not stuffing yourself everyday at every meal. That’s how I would approach it 🙂 Have fun!

  5. I often have a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast on a cruise because you can’t always get Eggs Benedict and I like oatmeal. That doesn’t mean I won’t eat way too many desserts later in the day though because food is one of the great things available on cruise ships.
