“I’m telling you, you won’t last for more than 2 minutes. It’s too soon. Why not wait a while?”
I tried to convince him but I knew that he wouldn’t listen.
“I can handle it. I’ll be fine.”
“Suit yourself,” I told him as I flopped down onto the couch.
I watched him slide the patio door and step outside with his ice cold beverage. Before the third commercial on tv could air, the patio door slide open again and he was back in the room. I laughed.
“Okay, you were right…” he said, showing me that all of the ice in his iced tea had instantaneously melted. He headed back to the ice maker to refresh his drink.
In Puerto Rico, there are days when it’s hot and others that are “boricua hot”.
That afternoon, it felt like being in a sauna cranked up way its’ maximum. Days with absolutely no air in the air and the scorching hot sand feels like hot coals under your soles. Your best bet is to stay in the water, grab lunch with the luxury of A/C and maybe even take a nap indoors before heading back out into paradise when the sun isn’t so angry.
It’s been crazy hot but I like it hot. What about you? Do you like it hot?
