As I lay on the couch looking through the open patio doors, the curtains blew softly in the wind, bringing in the darkness as if to remind me that I should start making dinner. I loved the quietness of Maui but tonight I wanted a little music so I clicked on my cell to stream some music from my favorite station.

As I grabbed items from the fridge to treat myself to a ridiculously elaborate dinner, the first song that came on hit me like a ton of bricks. Its lyrics literally took my breath away.

Every single word resonated in my body and I must have hit replay a half dozen times before putting it on automatic replay.

I had indeed reached a fork in the road of my life and I was choosing to do “me” from now on…

Indie Arie was singing straight to me and soon I was singing right along with as I danced around the kitchenette…

  1. Very nice… and just a bit sad. I’m sorry it took a devastating diagnosis to force Kate to truly focus on herself and her own self-worth. Even though she divorced the scummy husband, sounds as though his verbal abuse and bullying are still very much a part of her psyche. And then there’s HANNAH…lawd.

    Good, short introspection!

    Now… about Mr. Handsome…

    LMAO! 😉
