“Your lips look so perfect with that shade of lipstick. I could you kiss you right here, right now…”

When Alejandro attempted to lean in towards my lips, I stopped swaying with him to the slow song the band was playing.

“You’re kidding, right?” From the look on his face in the dim light of the ballroom, I could see that he wasn’t. “Don’t you dare…not after everything we’ve gone through up to this point.”

We had already avoided the paparazzi by arriving in two separate town cars and while the entertainment reporters had devoured Alejandro the moment he stepped foot onto the red carpet, I had easily slid through all the chaos unnoticed and unphotographed. But our togetherness had already drawn more than a few curious looks from the photographers allowed into the venue.

“No, I’m not kidding. I’m tired of hiding.”

“But that’s what you wanted Aleja…”

“I know, I know but I don’t want to hide us anymore. And after tonight, it will be pointless. They are already like bees ready to swarm us – I can feel it. After tonight, hiding will be over. And I’m thinking that we should get ahead of the paparazzi before they get ahead of us, you know, like how Brad and Angelina published the photos of their kids before the media could?”

“No, I don’t know anything about that.” I barely remembered that whole Brangelina term since they were old news. “I don’t see how kissing me in public will…”

“Do you trust me?”

“I do but…”

Before I could finish my thought, Alejandro quickly leaned in and kissed me ever softly, over and over, lingering so sweetly after each one that I almost forgot what we had been talking about, until the rapid fire of camera flashes forced me to reopen my eyes.

When our lips broke free, he whispered into my ear, “When I look in your eyes, I know that I’ve finally found the missing pieces of my life. And I can’t hide that anymore. Just smile for the cameras and follow my lead okay?”

Taking a deep breath, I turned to the cameras and quickly knew how a pig must feel when its about to be slaughtered.
