I forced myself to stop kissing her.
“What’s wrong?” Laney whispered as if someone else was wrapped up between the sheets with us.
She pressed her warm body against me and trailed her fingers down my arm. As her tongue grazed along my bottom lip, her hips explained what she wanted mine to do. I inhaled sharply, enjoying the bittersweet pain of holding myself back.
Hadn’t she vowed that she would never cross the line with a man like me? Didn’t she remember her speech about not messing with our solid friendship? Or was I simply having a wet dream?
When I didn’t answer, Laney playfully bit my lip and I had no choice but to pull her in and thoroughly explore the inner depths of her delicious mouth.
No, I wasn’t dreaming and nothing in or on my body was asleep. She slid her arms around my waist as my own hands grasped her face.
“Why is that when we’re together and it’s just the two of us, we never fight until…”
My words were replaced by a deep groan when Laney threw a leg over my hip. My hands immediately slid from her face down to her hips to position her in just the right spot for full contact. Our eyes made four when she placed her forehead against mine.
“Still too many clothes and way too much talking Ty. We’ve got better things to do tonight than talk, don’t you think?” she whispered as she tugged at my pyjama bottoms.
I didn’t say another word. Instead, I flipped her over so that my full weight covered her body. The smile that she gave me almost sent me over the edge.
“Now, that’s much better,” she muttered against my lips and she slipped her arms around my neck. “Talking can wait.”
Laney was right. We had much better things to do until the sun came up.
