#SongLyricSunday: “I Wish I Wasn’t” – Heather Headley #musicchallenge

This week’s prompt for Helen’s #SongLyricSunday Challenge is “Falling“.

Click here for more details on this Challenge

Falling, falling and falling again is a bad, bad, bad thing to do when it’s for someone that we should never give a second and third chance to because we know better…but we do it anyways.

When you touch me my heart melts
(And anything you did wrong I forgive) Yeah, yeah
So you play me and take advantage
Of the love that I feel for you
Why you wanna hurt me so bad
I believed in you that’s why I’m so mad
Now I’m drowning in disappointment
And it’s hard for me to even look at you
(partial lyrics)

  1. Well ….. I can’t think of any lyrics to contribute but I find it interesting that the notion of ‘falling’ immediately leads to the idea of ‘falling for someone’ and there is a certain negative inference in that … as if someone is being duped. The act of ‘falling in love’ tends, on the other hand, to be viewed as a beautiful thing elevated beyond rationality. It’s only when the object of that love turns out to have a wife, three kids and a serious drug habit that things go bad. I’m not sure that the painful facts detract from the innocent purity of the original emotion.

  2. I really love her voice! And I agree… why do we do it? I’ve had a few of these in my time, but I’m happy I finally found someone to fall for that has truly kept my heart safe. It’s an amazing feeling… I suppose that’s why we keep doing it. 🙂 Great choice!
