This week’s prompt is : “Blast Off“
It’s not necessary to read these three pieces first but you can if you want to.
When I felt Laney trying to quietly slip out of the bed, I outstretched my arm and held onto her tightly.
“Where do you think you’re going?” I whispered into her ear and kissed her neck. She had exhausted me and all that I wanted to do was go back to sleep with my body spooned against hers…at least until I had more energy to continue what we had started after midnight. Each and every time we made love, we were like two rockets blasting off to higher and even higher heights. Between us, it as all systems go. There was definitely no failure to launch. I couldn’t get enough of her. But I felt completely strung out.
Laney’s fingers pried mine open to release herself from my grip. “Tyler, I need to pee. And I want to take a shower.”
Reluctantly, I let her slip out of my grasp. She stood up and I admired her glorious nakedness before me.
“Do you want help with that shower?” I teased. Laney’s smile spread across her face.
God, that smile will always be my downfall.
“I think that I could handle it on my own. Go back to sleep.” She bent over and kissed me on the forehead. I pulled her further into me and kissed her thoroughly, feeling my energy rise despite my tiredness. Laney gently pulled away and averted my eyes.
After the way she’s been so assertive last night, how could she play shy now?
“Hurry back…” I mumbled and shut my eyes, waiting for her to crawl back into bed after being freshly showered. But when I woke up again, I reached out and found the space next to me was cold.
“Babe?” I bolted upright and saw that her clothes and shoes had disappeared from the floor. “Laney?”
Naked as the day I was born, I rushed to the bathroom to find her wet towel draped neatly on the rack next to mine. It was obvious that she had left without so much as a goodbye.
To be continued by Laney’s perspective of the same scene…
