No, I’m not talking about a novella from me or anything else I have (not) written.
Like I said in my last post, I’m almost done tying up some loose ends that will permanently make room in my mind and life to focus on happier things like writing again in January 2021.
I can’t wait until this weird year is over.
I’m talking about the rumblings of the next lock down. Basically a Christmas lock down.
It’s as obvious as the snow falling outside my window right now that we are headed towards another “real” lock down circa March 2020 when only essential establishments were open.
If the powers that be had only used common sense (which is obviously not so common), we could have been better positioned by now…
Nothing will change much for me when we shut down again.
My family’s “reserves” from early pandemic have remained untouched – freezers and shelves are full, medicine cabinets refreshed with everything needed to combat whatever is thrown our way and my pharmacy knows to deliver our prescriptions for two months worth at a time.
The only thing left for me to do is buy what we need to prepare for Christmas week meals – pepperpot, garlic pork and other traditional eats. that we always indulge and look forward to.
The question is – how are YOU doing?
Update: Minutes after I posted this, the hammer dropped – as of December 17 we are shutting down. Let the toilet paper games begin! 🙄
I had such high hopes for 2020…and I still have hope for the future! I’ll be glad when I can see my mom again.

I hope you get to see her soon! Being apart from loved ones is simply awful. I have my fingers crossed for you! 💜

Thanks for sharing, Marquessa! Thank God your family is prepared. Mines is as well, except toilet paper still grows legs to run🤣. Other than that, 2020 has been one weird ride and for some it has been completely damaging to their souls. Even though I’ve always been a homebody, this quarantine has been tough. Wearing masks all the time is so uncomfortable and my favorite shops are closed or operating at low capacity.
I pray we just keep being safe and continue to spread love and not hate.💗

Totally agree about spreading love💜 We just got the announcement. Shutting down as of Dec 17. I’ve got my toilet paper stock. 🤣

Grandma gave our child a roll of Christmas toilet paper as a gag gift!

🤣 Like babies who play with the box the gift came in instead of the actual gift!

Lol. Nothing will change for me since I only do essentials shopping.

Living alone, I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. Coming from a large family (eight siblings), I learned to stock up from my parents, so even a 30-60 day lockdown won’t stress me.
However, being surrounded by covidiots, the stuck-on-stupids, the “you can’t infringe on my CONSTITUTIONAL rights” crowd, and conspiracy theorists, I can’t see another lockdown doing much good around here. If one more person says, “it’s just a flu”, you’re going to see me as a CNN breaking news spot… and it won’t be pretty. The growing lists of deaths and infections correlate with the rising ignorance.
I’m just sick of everybody at this point and am ready for the giant meteor to hit the planet. *Cue Morgan Freeman.* 😀 😀

Oh I hear you. I’m sort of solo but live close enough to family to throw a rock at their place so both homes are stocked. Crazy times, crazy people.

I’ll be glad when we put the brakes on crazy! 😀

I’m still on pandemic patrol, fighting to get people to wear masks (required, at the moment) in my workplace. It’s dragging on me.

Oh no. Why won’t people learn???

I wish we would lock down like that again and get everyone on board to stop this thing. Unfortunately, that’s not happening. *sigh* It’s not that I *want* to be on lockdown, but I want to stop people dying unnecessarily. It seems simple to me!

Simple to me too. Our January 11 end date will very likely be extended. We’ll see….
