WHY I WRITE FICTION
I’m a storyteller. Plain and simple. I’ve been writing fiction ever since I learned to read. As a child, I would always find myself lost deep within the library stacks, spending hours reading first chapters of novels before checking them out – if they weren’t “just right”, they couldn’t come home with me. I quickly realized that I held the power within my favorite pen to create my own world of characters and that I could write the stories I wanted to read more of.
WHAT I WRITE
I prefer not to label my writing but if I had to, I would say that my style is contemporary fiction and women’s fiction. I write stories about people just like you and me, wrestling with the emotional rollercoasters of family, love and relatable issues. But I was raised on a healthy diet of soap opera so my stories always provide romantic elements, a little suspense, “feels” and a level of escapism that may leave you wanting a sequel – which is a good thing because I’m incapable of shutting down the “story voices” in my head!
WHY I BLOG
Though it’s a challenge to blog and prioritize my fiction writing, I blog to maintain my wonderful exchanges with the great community of readers and fellow writers I have met since being on WP. It’s also a great way to keep a writing habit.
OTHER TOTALLY RANDOM TIDBITS ABOUT ME
I create my best ideas when the world of the world is asleep. I pour too much sugar in my coffee. I’m a podcast-listening, DIY home improvement and organizing junkie.
Music fuels my story ideas. If you borrow a book from my collection, I will pester you to treat it well and ask when you’ll be returning it. My favorite color is purple. My favorite ice cream is Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk. Summer is my season. When a travel opportunity pops up, you’ll find me at the nearest beach under a palm tree with my writing notebook.
WHAT I’M WORKING ON RIGHT NOW
I’m currently working on edits to my novella called, “Living To Die”, the story of Kate who learns that she is ill and takes a trip to Hawaii as part of her bucket list. The story ends with a twist!
