This week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Growing Old is hosted by Helen at “This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time“.

I always smile when I see older couples who hold hands like teenagers, laugh at each other’s jokes and who still genuinely enjoy each other’s company.

The lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” speaks to the kind of love that gets better like wine…the kind of love that most of us long to have.

It also doesn’t hurt that this song is sampled on Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.”

And darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

I don’t know about you, but it seems that when I turned 40, all sorts of new things started happening with my body that had never happened before and I came to the realization that I was “getting old”.  I know, I know; I’m not that old, and there are many people out there who are way older than me and have so many more health issues than I do, but this year has just been rough.  I’m honestly ready for a change; one that doesn’t include hospitals and doctors.

We are almost to the end of this year and we have one more surgery under our belt (hubby had to go under the knife again, poor guy).  I’m hoping we’ve seen the end of it, but honestly, life does happen and all we can do is roll with it.  At least there is good music to listen to, and…

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Apology/Sorry is hosted by Helen at “This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time“.

I don’t think that I’m alone when I say that there is something oh-so-satisfying when the one who let you go crawls back full of apologies, realizing that they made a huge mistake and begs for a second chance…

A second chance that you would never ever entertain.

I love the lyrics of this song BUT I always shake my head at how the video ends.

Foolish, foolish girl…

I didn’t appreciate when you were mine
And now I’m asking
God just once turn back the hands of time, yeah
So I can fix some wrongs give me another,
Give us another chance
Girl, I just can’t live without you
And living with regret

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

This week, the lyric Simply Marquessa chose was: “God knows I never meant to hurt you…I never meant take it that far…” I do believe that we’ve done similar themes to the one I chose this week, but I believe we usually all have several choices to any one given theme, so I’m sure we can all come up with something.

Sometimes, songs have a way of saying what we just can’t put into words.  I’ve tried to use songs to convey this particular message, but it didn’t work as well as I thought it would.  I’m thinking that when you hurt someone, the best apologies are those given in person where you can look someone in the eyes so they can see your sincerity.  It also works when the apology is forced, because I don’t know about you, but I can always tell when it lacks sincerity.

All that…

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Fire is hosted by Helen at “This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time“.

Like Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On” and Freddie Jackson’s “Rock Me Tonight“, Luke James’ “Make Love To Me” below could make sparks fly. 🌡🔥🌡

Temperature, risin
Heart rate, increasin
Hearing you breathe heavily.
Let me explore your body

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

This week, the lyric Simply Marquessa chose was: “With the touch of your hand, you start a fire burning…” I have to say that when I read the theme I picked for this week, I got really excited.

It’s funny to me that we’ve been doing this for a few years now and I honestly haven’t run out of theme ideas.  Some have been really similar, but they have all been unique in their own way.  The other amazing thing is that there is so much great music out there to share.  I want to thank all those who participate and share amazing music each week.  Doing this wouldn’t be quite as much fun without your influence and support.  When I first started doing this, it was almost like a slow sizzle, but now there is a great big bonfire roaring each week and I’m truly grateful for the warmth…

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Party is hosted by Helen at “This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time“.

I love all kinds of music, except for head-banging heavy metal and rap music with excessive cursing for no good reason.

But if I had to choose a song that TOTALLY describes my preferred style of music, THIS song could be it!

If a groove like this is playing, I’ll get up on the dance floor and dance.

All. By. Myself.

Sunday mornin’
Saturday night has lasted up until this moment
We’re together
Things are lookin’ up and love is fittin’ better
On you
And me
