#SongLyricSunday: “I Wish I Wasn’t” – Heather Headley #musicchallenge

This week’s prompt for Helen’s #SongLyricSunday Challenge is “Falling“.

Click here for more details on this Challenge

Falling, falling and falling again is a bad, bad, bad thing to do when it’s for someone that we should never give a second and third chance to because we know better…but we do it anyways.

When you touch me my heart melts
(And anything you did wrong I forgive) Yeah, yeah
So you play me and take advantage
Of the love that I feel for you
Why you wanna hurt me so bad
I believed in you that’s why I’m so mad
Now I’m drowning in disappointment
And it’s hard for me to even look at you

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

There’s nothing like coming to the end of a week and realizing you still have way more work in front of you than hours in the day.  Which, of course, means that you work late on Friday and go in on Saturday morning, just to feel like you have some breathing room.  I really love what I do, but right now, it’s pretty stressful and I’m hoping when the holidays come, I’ll be able to enjoy them completely.

None of that really has anything to do with the theme this week; and I honestly can’t think of a neat little segue into it, so I guess I’ll just get right to it.

Our theme for Song Lyric Sunday this week is “falling”.

As always, you can go your own way and post a song that has nothing to do with the prompt.  We’re all here sharing our love…

#SongLyricSunday: “How Far I’ll Go” – Auli’i Cravalho #musicchallenge

This week’s prompt for Helen’s #SongLyricSunday Challenge is “Courage”.

Click here for more details on this Challenge

My song choice for this week may surprise you but I think that it is a PERFECT for this week’s prompt.

No matter what it is, we all have a “calling” – something that we are so passionate about that we can’t ignore, no matter how much we try.

For me, my “calling” was always writing. Though I put writing aside for almost two decades, the desire to write never left my soul and here I am now with the courage to see where it takes me.

Better late than never, right?

Every turn I take, every trail I track
Every path I make, every road leads back
To the place I know where I cannot go
Where I long to be

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

I’ve been gone most of the day today.  I finally got to spend some time with my sisters, drinking and eating seafood over a long, rather delightful lunch.  I forget how nice it is just to spend time with the people you love.

We ended up back at my sister’s house and I got to see my nephew.  He’s almost two but doesn’t really know me yet, so he spends the whole time trying to hide (literally inside his mom).  I, in turn, spend the whole time bugging the shit out of him, because I’m just that kind of an aunt.  I know he’ll warm up to me at some point, at least, that’s the goal.

It makes me think about how many different strangers kids are introduced to.  I know I’m not technically a stranger, but he doesn’t know me, so to him I am.  It takes a whole…

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Obsession is hosted by Helen at “This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time“.

When you are the object of someone’s unwanted obsession, it is an awful feeling…unless you take matters into your own hands like Leela James in “Don’t Want You Back”.

I love how the video reflects the lyrics.

Two o’clock in the morning, you on my phone
Tryin’ to talk to me and saying that you want me back
You need me back, and you shoulda never left me
There you go, talking that shit, same old shit
Don’t wanna hear that shit, no
I remember when you had me, you treated me bad
You treated me bad

Song Lyric Sunday Theme Reveal for 11/26/17: “Obsession”

What are you “obsessing” about these days?

Join in on this week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme and choose a song that fits the bill!

This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time

I am admittedly obsessive/compulsive but I am also a procrastinator, which doesn’t lend itself well to certain chores around the house.  I’ve spent most of the day today on a mission to fix a few things that have been bugging me since we moved in.  While finding a hex nut for our futon should have been a one and done sort of deal, I’ve now made a trip to Walmart and one to Lowe’s and I still don’t have the right one.  I suppose I should have thought of taking the darn screw with me the first time around, but I was trying to make it “easy” on my self.  Who knew you couldn’t really eyeball the size of a hex nut…

I’m not sure if I’m describing obsessive behavior, except that I’ve been obsessing about it all day and I would still love to run to the store to…

#SongLyricSunday – “Thinking Out Loud ” – Ed Sheeran #musicchallenge #music

This week’s Song Lyric Sunday Theme: Growing Old is hosted by Helen at “This Thing Called Life One Word at a Time“.

I always smile when I see older couples who hold hands like teenagers, laugh at each other’s jokes and who still genuinely enjoy each other’s company.

The lyrics of Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Out Loud” speaks to the kind of love that gets better like wine…the kind of love that most of us long to have.

It also doesn’t hurt that this song is sampled on Marvin Gaye’s “Let’s Get It On.”

And darling I will be loving you ’til we’re 70
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I’m thinking ’bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am
